Industry Week, which came to a close on December 4, was an opportunity for many players to open doors that are usually closed, and to raise awareness among targeted audiences such as jobseekers, schoolchildren and women of a sector that, while gradually regaining its credentials with the challenges of industrial relocation, still needs to shake up its image.
Territoire d’Industrie, supported by Clermont Auvergne Métropole and Mond’Arverne Communauté, has organized a number of events designed to introduce people to industrial professions. On this occasion, Territoire d’Industrie Clermont Arverne and the Métropole’s Direction des Solidarités joined forces to raise awareness among job-seekers, and offered a tour of the ACC-M workshops and the HALL32 industrial demonstrator.
A visit to the ACC-M workshops in the morning, discussions with the teams, immersion in the Hall 32 training facilities in the afternoon: the day’s activities helped to break down preconceived ideas… participants were able to measure just how much today’s industry has changed. And for many, this discovery rekindled the desire to apply for a job or for training. Hall 32 offers the “For me, tomorrow’s industry” course. With a positive exit rate of 80%, this program is a real springboard to industrial employment.
What they thought of the day…
Nicolas G. sent out around a hundred CVs, all personalized, he says, only to receive two replies. Both were negative. And yet, he really wants to work. So when he received the invitation to take part in the day organized by Clermont Auvergne Métropole for PLIE beneficiaries, he jumped at the chance.
For Stéphane L., it’s a posture : “I want things to move, and I’m open to all opportunities. It’s a sector I knew at the start of my career, but I’ve done a lot of different things in the meantime, and IT and electronics have evolved a lot. I’ve rediscovered my bearings, even if I now have some technical shortcomings.”
For the project manager at Clermont Auvergne Métropole’s Solidarités department, the day’s main aim was ‘just’ to open up the field of possibilities. It was divided into two parts: a morning to visit ACC-M recruitment centers, and an afternoon to discover Hall 32, its facilities and training opportunities.
Nicolas G. is enthusiastic: “I’ve seen the equipment, the atmosphere, the type of mission… it really makes me want to work there. I’m going to send in my CV this evening and I hope they’ll get back to me”. A first positive indicator. Others will follow: number of CVs sent in, ideas for retraining, training applications, etc.
While Malesa T. wasn’t attracted by the ACC-M, which was too masculine and “mechanical” for her taste, she was highly motivated by the “For me, tomorrow’s industry” course and the discovery of Hall 32’s training facilities: “It was clean, less noisy, full of innovation with the 3D printers… You can see that industry is evolving. It was really very interesting. I saw a lot of girls, and I also saw that there’s versatility, that you can work on several machines, evolve…”. Stéphane L. is also very interested. It’s a way of brushing up on his knowledge and, in the end, perhaps going back to his first experiences.
