In 2018, the French magazine Le Point put Clermont Métropole third in the ranking of most creative French cities. Companies and events of global reach, a national theatre, a contemporary music scene, a concert hall, an opera house and a large-scale library to come: the territory boasts all the cultural assets of a big city.
The cultural and creative industries are central to the economic strategy of Clermont Auvergne Métropole which is home to the world’s leading event dedicated to short films and to a wealth of events with international reach (Europavox, Festival of Extra Ordinary Textiles, Musiques Démesurées (contemporary and experimental music festival), Vidéoformes (digital arts), Carnet de voyages (travel sketchbook exhibition) to name but a few). Clermont Auvergne Métropole also has two famous Colleges of Higher Education in contemporary art and architecture and an already prolific network of creative and innovative companies: Allegorithmic, Riot House Production, Biscuit Production, Delighter, Videlio among others. The main private players have got together in a dedicated cluster called Le Damier to highlight and showcase the music and image sectors.
